Kasargod commercial project

The Kasargod Internship program for term 1 (July 2021 to August 2021) was a resounding success. With the esteemed M. V. Govindan, Minister of Local Self Governments and Excise, Government of Kerala, inaugurating the program, 20 students participated in a total of 18 projects and 2 studies under the Department of Commerce, Kasargod district (Vyavasaya Vakuppu). Notably, one of the projects, Loka Kasargod Sabha, was successfully implemented.

CUET orientation session

During the second term of the Kasaragod internship program, our interns from Malayalam University successfully delivered CUET (Common Universities Entrance Test) orientation sessions for Plus Two (higher secondary) students. These sessions attracted over 600 students seeking valuable insights about the CUET exam.

Need assessment in Manjeshwar

In Manjeshwar, 3 internship programs were conducted which prioritized comprehensive need assessment in Manjeshwar, Kasaragod, India. During November and December 2023, a dedicated group of 20 interns visited all panchayats (village councils) within the region. Through focused group discussions, they identified development needs across various demographics. The study specifically included youth, older adults, women, children, Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) communities, along with administrators. Key themes explored in the discussions included health, education, women’s empowerment, and the specific needs of the coastal region. This data will be instrumental in guiding future development efforts in Manjeshwar.

KREA Commune Project

As part of “The KREA Commune Project,” an initiative focused on developing 100 model villages, students participated in internships that were primarily dedicated to fieldwork and needs assessments in the selected areas. The “KREA 100 Brigade Project,” provided a valuable platform for students to gain practical experience.  The project included “Genesis,” a two-day camp where 400 students acquired their skills in conducting needs assessments for the targeted area.

Sansad Aadarsh Gram Yojana

Our team of interns from Mariyan College and St. Antony’s College Peruvanthanam completed a successful one-month internship at Peruvanthanam Panchayat in Idukki. This internship focused on conducting a comprehensive needs assessment and formulating a development policy document for the panchayat. Throughout the internship, interns received valuable training and workshops from KILA faculty, equipping them with the skills necessary to assess needs and design a development plan. This project will serve as a valuable resource for Peruvanthanam Panchayat as they move forward with their development initiatives.

Walk with MLA Irikkur

5-month internship – Walk with MLA was an internship – 10 interns were there – interns were allowed to understand the government system right from the grama panchayat, to the Rajya Sabha. They visited the Grama panchayats, block panchayats, District Panchayat and collectorate, the Legislative Assembly of Kerala, and the Rajya Sabha. The interns were able to talk with the speaker of the legislative assembly and other key functionaries of the government in this internship. The interns at the same time assisted the MLA in his daily official work. In the second term of this internship, the interns were lucky to visit the Ezhimala Naval Academy in Kannur.

Field visits in Kundara

A group of 15 interns from Calicut University participated in a program focused on understanding community needs within the local governing systems. Through field visits, they gained practical experience in scientific data collection methods, including resource mapping and focus group discussions. Their findings were compiled into a report and submitted to the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Kundera.

UNESCO Learning City project

The UNESCO Learning City project by the Thrissur Municipal Corporation offered several internship opportunities. A total of 6 internship programs were part of this project. 12 interns were allowed to work with innovative projects like SENSE, Civil Aspirants Nexus, Career Path, Learning City cadets, Career Cell, and CUET orientation program.
